Fashion Design

I’m proud to have created a successful fashion brand with a signature style founded on my unique way of illustrating luxury fabrics. The SARAH ARNETT brand has sold in high-end stores worldwide. I have shown collections in London, Paris, and New York fashion week and regularly featured in publications such as Vogue. I was awarded the UK Fashion Export Award for Womenswear in 2007.

My journey into fashion started as a child, obsessed with the colour red. My first grown-up school shoes were red, and I talked of nothing else. I watched my Mother ready herself for a party and always lusted after her little chain mail evening purse and jangly gold charm bracelet. When I came to England as a child I found I had lots of cousins with vast dressing up boxes. My grandmother was the creator and made endless outfits for us all, it was with her I first learned to sew. 

My first pieces of clothing were made to order, a way of establishing my textiles designs, and in a very short time, I was designing capsule collections. My first shop, Simultane opened in Brighton in 2001. An open studio, at the time I made, dyed and embroidered pieces in the back of the shop. The collection grew and I had a rich resource of talented local makers and pattern cutters to work with who helped me create something that had the quality and design to start selling in some of the best stores around the world.

I launched my eponymous label in 2003, opened another store, and expanded into made to measure and ready to wear bridal. 

In 2012, I launched a new collaboration with creative director Kim Hunt, called Modern Love. We created a brand that moved between fashion and interiors and designed collections for Liberty of London and bespoke clients.

Fashion always has a cycle to it, and this year I have been designing and creating fashion again, in small runs and at my own pace. My project, Pattern Society is at a research stage and challenging me to still look for that perfect dress, delivered in a way that is responsible, using local manufacturing, and developing a close to zero waste production line.
