Twins

Twins

from £550.00

In Celtic mythology Elm trees were associated with the Underworld, and Elms occur often in pastoral poetry, where they symbolise the idyllic life, their shade being mentioned as a place of special coolness and peace.

I have drawn Elms and included in them in many artworks, I started this research when I was asked to create a 2D floor installation in the Level Park in Brighton a few years ago, home to many of Brighton’s Elms. The Preston Twins were part of a hedge of Elms planted in Preston Park, Brighton. These two Elms are the oldest Elms in the world, they are both over 6metre’s in girth and over 400 years old.
